Canvas releases new feature updates to their system on a regular basis, about once a month, and these can have varying impacts on the user experience. This means that the product may change more often than we were used to with Blackboard as Canvas is constantly evolving. Sometimes, feature releases are so tiny that they can go unnoticed by all but the most discerning users. Sometimes, these changes impact the portions of Canvas that are used the most, and they can produce confusion.
Their most recent release on July 13th, for example, changed a grade posting policy which allows you to have more control over how grades and comments are released to students. This will be a visual/functional change for those who are currently using Canvas and is a part of the constant evolution of Canvas's relatively new grade book interface. A tab has been added to the grade book policies tab that can be accessed via the gear in the right-hand corner of the grade book, and new options have been added in each assignment column.
Some users may not have been alerted to this change, however, if you've seen the image below in your grade book and/or want to know more, the release notes and a video that were provided by Canvas are linked below. Please let us know if you have any questions, or feel free to Contact Canvas Support for assistance using the new feature.
